Amini, 22, died in hospital in Tehran after she was detained for violating Iran’s law requiring women to wear headscarves fully hiding their hair.

Following Amini’s death, people flooded the streets of Iran in protest like they did in November 2019, once again calling for the removal of the Islamic Republic of Iran.Tabesh said she hopes the rally on Saturday will not only educate people on what’s unfolding in Iran but also put pressure on politicians to take action.“Unfortunately, we see a lot of communication and continued relationships between countries like Canada, the U.S.

Tabesh said everyone is encouraged to come out to the rally at Peace and Friendship Park in downtown Halifax. It’s set to start at 11 a.m.“We want the women of Iran to have the freedom to choose what to wear and what not to wear, but it’s beyond that. We’re fighting for basic human rights that have been taken away from people.”
