Gerard Hughes' rematch with Ruadhan Farrell has been postponed due to 'medical issues'

Gerard Hughes insists fans will get the fight they want despite his eagerly anticipated rematch with Ruadhan Farrell being postponed.

Hughes told Belfast Live: "We found out Monday afternoon. Pody got the call and said the fight was off due to medical issues. I was gutted. "I have been a pro for a year-and-a-half and this is the first taste of the bad side of boxing. If it was down to the both of us, Rudy and I would be in that ring on Saturday night. But there are boards and medicals and boxes needing ticked, and they are there for a reason.Hughes and Farrell fought out a contentious draw last December at the SSE Arena, with many believing Farrell should have got the nod.

"It probably makes it a bigger fight and adds to the story. There will be more anticipation. I have spoken to Rudy and we both want this fight next. It is a big fight," he said.
