A revolver and four rounds of ammunition were found in the back of the taxi
Merseyside police officers pulled over the private hire taxi, on Eaton Road, West Derby, at around 8.15pm on Friday, September 29. Officers believed the passenger was "behaving suspiciously" and when speaking to them police noticed a bag in the taxi.
The man then ran away from the scene before police could stop him. Officers looked inside the bag and found a 2.2 revolver, four 2.2 rounds of ammunition and over £100 in cash.READ MORE: Ashley Dale murder trial live updates as six men to appear in court Kyle Simm, aged 39, of Elleray Drive, Dingle, has now been was charged with possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition. He has been remanded into custody and appeared at Wirral Remand Court this morning, Thursday, October 5.
Inspector Michael McEvoy said: "Merseyside Police pro-actively investigates serious organised crime including the use of guns in our cities and is relentless in its pursuit to remove any dangerous weapons from our streets.
