It worked astonishingly well, City returned to their best and eventually won the treble.
Instead of a defender moving into central midfield to partner Rodri, Kyle Walker instead pushed high up the pitch to basically become a winger. Mateo Kovacic tucked into the pivot and Foden, while on paper playing on the right, actually played in an attacking midfield position as Walker provided support from out wide.
