Clase mowed through the bottom of the Los Angeles lineup, retiring Jordyn Adams on a fly ball to center and getting Brett Phillips and Kyren Paris on ground balls to Andrés Giménez at second. Pitching in his third consecutive game, Clase earned his 105th career save, moving him out of a tie for fifth with Jose Mesa on the club’s all-time list. He now sits 19 away from Chris Perez in fourth place.“We don’t worry about him, but I mean, I’m still glad to see that,” Francona said.
The major league leader in blown saves with 10, Clase has also had more save opportunities than any other pitcher, converting 79.6% of his chances. The major league average is around 63%. “It’s about being a little more patient,” Clase said. “You’re not always going to get what you want. So obviously I keep my head up and keep executing every pitch that I have opportunity to throw.”“Obviously yesterday it was unfortunate, I wasn’t executing my pitches as I wanted,” Clase said. “You put it in the past and try to do a better job and I was able to execute it today.
