The Pumas extended their winning run with a well-deserved 50-35 victory over the Valke at the Barnard Stadium in Kempton Park.

Griquas overcame a valiant effort from the Griffons to secure a convincing 52-33 win. Hosting at home in Welkom, the Griffons managed to score five tries but ultimately found themselves outmatched by the defending champions' physicality and pace. In Gqeberha, the Cheetahs had to battle hard to defeat Eastern Province 47-35, while the Kavaliers comfortably surpassed the SWD Eagles 71-21 in Wellington. Meanwhile, in East London, the Leopards clinched their first win of the season, defeating the Border Bulldogs 28-25.As the competition approaches the halfway point, Griquas and the Pumas dominate the standings with a full 20 points each. The Griquas currently hold the top spot due to a superior points difference. The Griffons remain in third place with 16 points despite their home defeat, followed by Boland in fourth with 13 points and the Cheetahs in fifth with 12 points. The Valke dropped to seventh place on 11 points, four points ahead of EP and five points better than the Eagles. The Leopards' first victory boosted their total to four points, while Border maintains two points. The top four teams at the end of the single round of fixtures will qualify for the Currie Cup Premier Division.Round 5 action commences on Friday evening with the Eagles hosting the Valke in George at 6pm, followed by the Pumas facing Border at 7pm. On Saturday, Griquas take on the Kavaliers in Kimberley at 2pm, while EP clash with the Leopards in Gqeberha, and the Cheetahs and Griffons meet in Bloemfontein, both at 3pm.
