After Rutgers suffered a loss to Wisconsin on Saturday, coach Greg Schiano said his program is 'not there yet.' Here are some things that are holding them back.

Rutgers head coach Greg Schiano yells during the first half of an NCAA college football game against Wisconsin, Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023, in Madison, Wis. From his seat at a table in a media room in the bowels of Camp Randall Stadium, he emphasized that the, that they are not quite at the point as a program where they can march into Madison and pull off the upset.

They will have more opportunities this season — a home game with Ohio State, road games at Penn State and Iowa — but first comes the biggest two-game stretch of Schiano’s second tenure with the program.

“I have to play better, for sure,” Wimsatt said. “Turning the ball over in the red zone, that’s a big takeaway for them and it turns into seven. That’s a big turning point in the game. I feel like there’s a lot of other things I could have done better but we just got to get on tape and see what we can fix for next week.”Rutgers found a successful offensive formula in its first three games of the season: run the ball, don’t turn it over, then run it some more.

“I don’t think we did enough to win the game,” star defensive end Aaron Lewis said of the defense Saturday, though there is not much else they could do.
