Former Alabama quarterback revealed just how long the loss stayed with him.
The former Alabama quarterback, during an interview with Connor O’Gara, shared just how difficult it was for him to get over the 2010 Iron Bowl against Cam Newton and Auburn.
Alabama, with McElroy at the helm, jumped out to a 24-0, first-half lead. Newton, who went on to win the Heisman Trophy, rallied the Tigers with for three touchdowns against the Crimson Tide, and he ran for the other score to complete the 28-27 comeback, or Camback as it has been dubbed. For McElroy, it was a tough game to forget. In fact, it took some time.
“I’m kind of over it now,” the SEC Network analyst said. “It took me probably 10 years though. If I’m going to be completely honest, like it took me 10 years to not be bothered by how that game ultimately went. Maybe not quite that long but it was a while. And it’s still painful, but there’s nothing that can be done about it now.”
