Councillors have granted planning permission for a new petrol station and drive-through restaurant.
permission for a new petrol station and drive-through restaurant to be built near Chapelhall.
The proposal also includes a shop, electric vehicle charging points, car and HGV wash plus roads, landscaping and drainage. Grove Retail applied for the development to be approved and, although it is contrary to the local plan, officers recommended approval because the site, which is close to the junction of Lancaster Avenue and Bellside Road, had prior approval for a mixed use development.
The permission is subject to a list of 15 conditions, with reasons given such as nature conservation and ensuring the land is not contaminated. The application received three comments of support and one objection which expressed concern over possible noise pollution and risk to wildlife.
