But instead of Tom Hanks talking to a volleyball named Wilson while stranded on an island, this scenario features a Macedonian tourist clinging to a child’s ball while adrift at sea for 18 hours., Ivan, a 30-year-old tourist from North Macedonia, was one of three men recently swept out to sea by strong currents off the coast of Kassandra, Greece.
Ivan was declared lost at sea by his friends after his pals notified the Greek coastguard. However, what they didn’t know was the man was still alive and clinging onto a ball, which had been considered lost 10 days earlier by a pair of brothers who were playing with it on Evgatis Beach on the island of Lemnos.
In an interview following his rescue, Ivan said the half-deflated ball kept him alive by keeping him afloat.of herself posing with the volleyball beside Ivan’s father outside the medical facility where the tourist was being treated.
