BC Transit will mark Earth Day on Saturday with free bus travel on the Victoria Regional Transit System and in other areas around the province.
Earth Day “encourages people to make choices that reduce greenhouse gases and help protect our environment,” B.C. Transit said in a statement. “Taking public transit is one way to make a difference.” BC Transit also aims to have a fully electric fleet by 2040, and notes its current province-wide fleet includes more than 280 compressed-natural-gas buses, with the first battery electric buses set to begin service in Victoria this year.
