Are you fond of reading or writing? There’s some great news for booklovers , as Cape Town’s biggest literary festival is back to its original home in September after a three year absence.Although a much scaled-down version of the festival, this will be the first time the festival has been held in its familiar home of the Homecoming Centre for two years. Participants and authors will finally have the chance to sit in the same room again at a more compact festival.
Ahead of the Festival in September, this past week they brought aspiring and experienced writers a series of workshops by facilitators that offered something very special. They wrapped up the week with two events featuring Maneo Mohale, author of the collectionThe workshop was followed later in the day, by a conversation between Maneo and Nondwe Mpuma .
The Open Book Festival Workshop Week took place this past week from Tuesday, 26 July to Friday, 29 July 2022. The space was limited, so if you missed these series of workshops then make sure not to miss the main event itself. As the enormously popular Open Book Festival returns to the Mother City this September, Programme coordinator Frankie Murray shared that the Open Book is a special festival,Open Book Festival is committed to creating a space to celebrate South African writers.
Booklovers or writing enthuiasts can expect this one to be thrilling, with this being the second live post-pandemic festival. Although September is still a little far, lovers of literature can look forward to the beloved festival returning in person in early September. We’re inviting all authors, activists, journalists, academics and poets to come together to debate timely topics. Whether you’re a booklover or an experienced author, get ready to be inspired or delighted with insightful discussions and challenged with timely topics.
