Kauffman and the Patriots are off to a fast start

Red Land's Jordan Kauffman will continue her career at St. John Fisher University in Rochester, N.Y. That first comfortable feeling when an athlete steps onto campus is real, almost tangible. Field hockey ace Jordan Kauffman experienced it in upstate New York.

“I thought the campus was a great environment. It was so pretty, and they’ve done remodeled so much of the campus. It looks brand new,” said Kauffman Thursday.“Being about four hours and 30 minutes from home was something definitely in my head. It’s a good distance away from home but not too far.” Red Land’s Jordan Kauffman - #8 during the Mid-Penn high school field hockey media day. Aug. 3, 2023. Sean Simmers | [email protected]

“The coach at St. John Fisher really likes me at left defense,” she said. “I’ve been playing as a defender since I began playing.”Kauffman, who also considered Oswego State and Salisbury in Maryland, said better communication and a bit quicker reaction time this season should help with the transition to NCAA field hockey.
