A special grand jury will be selected Monday to determine if the eight officers who killed Jayland Walker last year during a police pursuit should face criminal charges.
Police attempted to stop Walker for a traffic violation and an equipment violation. When the footage was released,it appeared Walker reached toward his waist during the foot chase and briefly turned toward officers. Police said Walker created a"deadly threat," leading officers to use stun guns, which was unsuccessful, and then they opened fire.
Ken Abbarno, one of the Walker family’s attorneys, said the autopsy findings were “absolutely devastating.” If the officers are indicted, court proceedings against the defendants will begin.
