Grammys pull Kanye West from lineup over 'concerning online behavior’
Rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, will not perform at the Grammy Awards next month as a result of his"concerning online behavior," his representative said.
West was not among the Recording Academy's early list of performers. However, the artist is up for five awards, which led many to think he would eventually be added to the list. So far, the list includes: Brothers Osborne, BTS, Brandi Carlile, Billie Eilish, Lil Nas X with Jack Harlow, and Olivia Rodrigo.A representative from West's team confirmed an earlier report Saturday alleging that Ye was"unfortunately" not invited to perform by the Academy"due to what they deem to be concerning online behavior."
Instagram similarly suspended West for 24 hours following a racial slur he used against late-night host Trevor Noah. Since the suspension ended, West subsequently deleted all his previous posts and has not posted on the platform.The awards ceremony was initially scheduled for Jan. 31, but it was postponed to April due to a surge in COVID-19 cases around that time.
