Following the deaths of two students, chaos ensued at the school as community members stormed the premises.

Another tragedy occurred on Thursday, 9th May coinciding with the memorial service for the Grade 10 boy.As per the Gauteng Department of Education, a Grade 12 boy passed away after collapsing while in the schoolyard. “Out of a need to maintain calm, the incident was not immediately disclosed to those at the memorial service to prevent panic. Regrettably, the learner did not survive.”
Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane has since expressed his “sincerest condolences” to the bereaved families. A teacher from Bophelong Secondary School in Vanderbijlpark tragically passed away after collapsing on the school grounds., the teacher arrived at work as usual on Thursday morning and stopped by the principal’s office to greet him.
