Recordings on AudioProtect cannot be accessed by passengers or driver-partners, and will only be used for investigation purposes in a safety-related incident.
SINGAPORE: A new safety feature that allows Grab driver-partners and passengers to record audio during rides will be progressively rolled out to users in Singapore as part of a trial starting Mar 21, said the company on Tuesday .
If a passenger picks up a phone call, the recording will be paused. It will resume automatically after the call ends. However, the recording may continue on the driver's device. "The files cannot be accessed by either passenger or driver, and will only be accessed by Grab’s safety team if a safety-related incident occurs."
The review of the recording will be conducted by approved and trained members from the safety team, added Grab. "To us, this is a huge deal because it means that women can feel safe, even while travelling alone," said Grab.
