After years of delays and U-turns on the issue, ministers will publish draft legislation in the coming weeks which will outlaw an attempt to try to change someone’s sexuality or gender identity in England and Wales.
Ms Donelan was updating MPs on online harms legislation and responding to calls to include a ban on conversion therapy advertising. “The legislation must not – through a lack of clarity – harm the growing number of children and young adults experiencing gender-related distress through inadvertently criminalising or chilling legitimate conversations parents or clinicians may have with their children,” she added.
