Businesses say they were not warned of the nine-day closure of a bridge connecting two villages.
The bridge closure is in place for nine days and is expected to re-open on Monday 30 OctoberMotorists will have to use an 11-mile diversion while Goring and Streatley Bridge is shut over half term.A spokesperson for the company said the work was urgent and apologised for the inconvenience.SGN is working to repair leaks found on the gas main in Streatley High Street near the entrance to The Swan Hotel.
Peter McDonald, owner of Goring Hardware Store Limited, said: "I think the reality is the diversion isn't going to work, we are anticipating quite a severe drop in footfall. Phil Kingsland, from Pierreponts Cafe in Goring, added: "The half-term week is usually quite busy for us, it's a nice little boost and we've already seen the numbers are down.
