Most Canadians say they’re paying too much in taxes while receiving too little in government services.

The highest levels of dissatisfaction with current taxation levels were in Manitoba and Saskatchewan followed by the Atlantic provinces , Quebec , Ontario and B.C. and Alberta .

The approval numbers, while low everywhere, were highest in British Columbia and Ontario , followed by Manitoba and Saskatchewan , Alberta and Quebec and Atlantic Canada .Article content Nationally, 28% said they received satisfactory value for their tax dollars while 11% didn’t know or preferred not to answer.

“This is a substantial increase from 1981 when the total tax bill of the Canadian family amounted to 40.8% of its income.” Meanwhile, the Canadian Taxpayers Federation noted on Wednesday, the federal carbon tax will increase on April 1 by 30% from $50 per tonne of greenhouse gas emissions to $65, raising the current 11.05 cents-per-litre carbon tax on gasoline to 14.31 cents per litre.
