Golden Valley Electric Association to host board meeting for members on Monday, June 27.

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Golden Valley Electric Association will be holding a special board meeting on Monday.

The Board of Directors will be voting on whether or not the Healy location will be retired or extended. Over 200 GVEA customers attended meetings last month in Fairbanks and Healy. The decision regarding Healy Unit Number 1, and the deadline for its future, was the starting point for considering GVEA’s future power generation.

The decision will have an impact on rates, reliability and the environment, with each area being analyzed.Members can attend the meeting via a “Microsoft Teams” link. Steps for members to attend are listed below:
