But this is so different having the family support in front of you and having so many people rooting for you and wanting you to succeed.
“We just put the best race out there in some huge headwinds. We only passed them in the last 200 metres. It was extremely close. Poland had an excellent start but thankfully we ended up with a better finish. It was so exciting.”After a slow start with partner and 2021 Olympian Connor Fitzpatrick of Dartmouth, the pair overtook the competition and captured the C2 mixed 500 event in 1:56.87, nearly two seconds ahead of the runner-up crew from Germany.
In intense midday heat, Maskwa’s Bret Himmelman and Craig Spence of Cheema paddled to a bronze medal in the men’s C2 1,000.
