Golden Arrow Bus Services has confirmed that one of their drivers sustained a gunshot wound to their leg in Khayelitsha on Friday morning. The bus company has now had to move operations out of Khayelitsha and Nyanga completely.

Since Thursday, sporadic incidents of violence have been reported in various parts of Cape Town, following Santaco’s decision to suspend all minibus taxi operations.Golden Arrow’s vehicles are being targeted, with a bus being set ablaze in Khayelitsha on Friday morning.

The bus company’s Bronwen Dyke-Beyer told, ‘It’s been a very difficult morning. We were running services until after midnight last night and then straight back into it this morning. Unfortunately, we did have a bus set alight, and one of our drivers sustained a gunshot wound to his leg, so we have had to move our operations out of Khayelitsha and out of Nyanga completely.’
