You just need need bourbon, fresh lemon juice, and honey.
Really great combo - really liked it! I knew the honey clumping from the ice would be an issue, so I just mixed the liquids first and THEN added the ice to the shaker. Worked like a charm - it mixed really well.So delicious, even if you aren’t a huge fan of bourbon. But you absolutely need to make some sort of honey syrup for this drink to work. Otherwise the honey gets cold and clumps at the bottom of your shaker.
These are delicious--one of my favorite cocktails when the weather cools. To make dissolving the honey easier, I use honey syrup, which can be made up to a few days in advance . Use 0.75 oz. syrup and 0.5 oz. lemon juice per 2 oz. bourbon , shake over ice and serve on the rocks with a lemon twist.This is yum. I put the honey in the microwave for 20 seconds. Not long enough to really heat it but long enough to make is very loose.
