A winner of more than 1,000 races as a driver through his over four decades in the business, MacGregor was also one of the greatest developers of young horses on the east coast, racing with a summary of top Atlantic stakes’s performers too numerous to list from Jerrys Nightmare, Dancer Greenwood, Glengyle Marj, Glengyle Byrd and Glengyle Lucy.
MacGregor’s top owner in the United States was Wilrose Farms, run by Dunkin Donuts founder William Rosenberg. MacGregor would settle in Milton, P.E.I., purchasing 150 acres in 1970 and turning it into Glengyle Farms with his wife, Carolyn, while raising his children Doug, Tricia and Tanya.
