'God of the Super-Storm': Thor Has Officially Been Replaced as Marvel's Most Powerful God

Thor is confronted by the Ur-Thor.

Thor is more powerful than many of his Marvel superhero peers just by nature of his status as a god, a superbeing from the Realm of Asgard – but as Al Ewing's Immortal Thor #1 has established, there are beings that exist above the Asgardians in the hierarchy of power in the cosmos, including Toranos, the Utgard-Thor.

The last readers see of his confrontation with Utgard-Thor in the issue, Thor is summoning the power of the All-Father, and hitting Toranos with a huge blast of lightning that the Elder God appears unfazed by.

Immortal Thor promises to redefine the character's place in the Marvel Universe. The first issue begins what appears like it will be a cosmic struggle with a classic Avengers moment – an attack on New York by a seemingly unstoppable force. It is unclear whether Thor will have the strength to stop Toranos, the Utgard-Thor, from leaving in the city in ruins, or if some other intervention will save the city.
