“Once I realized no one was killed — so many people could have been killed — it’s just such a sense of relief,” co-owner of Fogtown Chris Evans said.
Chris Evans is the co-owner of Fogtown Barber, which is temporarily located down the street in St. John's at 110 Water St. after a SUV crashed through the shop earlier this summer. On June 26, an SUV was heading up the bottom of Prescott Street from Harbour Drive when it suddenly accelerated — due to the driver’s medical emergency — and sped across Water Street, striking a Hyundai and crashing through the barbershop. Luckily it was a Sunday and the shop was closed. But Evans graciously spoke to SaltWire Network Tuesday, July 12, about the latest unfortunate event and being back up and running within days of the accident.
“It looks nice. It's great — it's a well-lit space which was just fresh and clean and ready for us to move into. We're doing what we did essentially in the same area and with minimal disruption.”
“We don’t really look at it like we’re competitors,” said Edgar, who credits Fogtown with paving the way for shops like his. He happened to be riding by the scene on his bike the day of the crash and wanted to do what he could to help
