If the union representing GO Transit workers can’t come to an agreement with Metrolinx, they’re ready to strike.
Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1587 represents 2,200 GO Transit bus operators, station attendants, plant and fleet maintenance workers, transit safety officers and office professionals. The union says 93 per cent of member voted in favour of strike action if a new deal can’t be reached, but an exact strike date wasn’t released.The union is accusing Metrolinx of stonewalling negotiations since they started in April and says the Crown agency is refusing to negotiate on critical issues, including job security, wages and work-life balance.Ctrl+Enter
