She added there is a need to revisit assumptions that nuclear energy tends to be costly and dangerous. Under the treaty, nations agreed to limit warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius to minimise further dangerous levels of climate change. There are also long-term advantages as the facilities, on average, take fewer than six years to build but have a lifespan of between 60 and 80 years, said Dr Leon.
