Shamrocks on the Wall seeks to raise $30,000 for local food bank

Gleaner’s Food Bank’s Shamrocks on the Wall fundraiser is coming back in a big way.

The 20th anniversary Shamrocks on the Wall fundraiser will be running through the month of March. People are invited to make a $5 or more donation to the food bank, and be entered into a draw to win two ounces of gold. Director of Operations for Gleaners, Suzanne Quinlan, says they have a great need for fundraising, as more people in the community are turning to them for help now than in previous years.

“We went from 5600 food hampers, this is just food hampers not people, we were 5600 food hampers last year and we’re at 10,500 food hampers for 2022,” said Quinlan. Gleaners is hoping to raise $30,000. The 2020, 2021 and 2022 spring fundraisers were cancelled due to the pandemic, the last spring fundraiser was held in 2019 and raised $15,000.A list of participating local businesses where you can make donations can be found on the Gleaner’s Food Bank website
