The showrooms have been described as like 'visiting an art gallery where the cars are the exhibits'
A luxury electric car show room is set to open in Silverburn shopping centre if plans get the go-ahead.The unit is to be split into two with Polestar taking one shop space and another available for an additional retailer. It aims to be the brand’s first site in ScotlandA cover letter explaining more about the bid, said: “Polestar are a luxury automotive brand from Sweden who produce electric cars.
"Polestar classes these as ‘Spaces’ and likens them to visiting an art gallery where the cars are the exhibits allowing people to familiarise themselves with the cars and the brand without pressure or distraction.” The number of display cars would be limited to three and customers would not be able to drive bought cars away from the shopping centre. Instead they would be “delivered from a separate site to customers following purchase” according to the cover letter from an agent.

Saying the move will benefit Pollok, the agent’s letter added: “This proposed change of use will enhance the diversification of Pollok town centre and will not result in the unacceptable loss of a Class 1 unit, nor adversely affect the retail character or the effective functioning of Pollok town centre. The proposed development will result in an active frontage and contribute positively to the vitality and viability of the town centre.
