Eoin Carey said he was 'really happy' to be able to go in on Christmas Day to support young people struggling 💜

A Glasgow Childline volunteer has spoken of his experience taking on Christmas Day shifts to support children struggling during the festive period.

“We had all made that commitment to be there on such a big day of the year and cheered each other up by making cups of tea and having plenty of treats to share,” said Eoin. “It’s sad that any children need to call us on Christmas Day but there’s an awful lot of expectation. If circumstances don’t allow for a child to celebrate with all the toys, food and a nuclear family, which is what is often portrayed as the ‘norm’, that can make a child feel different and like they don’t fit in.
