The cafe says the bakery's rolls are a"huge part" of what makes Scran a"firm favourite".
The Instagram post read:"Many of you have probably woken up to the sad news that Morton's Rolls have ceased trading overnight. "Our thoughts go out to all of the staff and everyone involved. We hope that the issue can be resolved as soon as possible, as not only are the crispy rolls they produce been a Glasgow staple since the 1960s, but they make up a huge part of what makes SCRAN a firm favourite among our fans.
"We've managed to secure enough rolls for the weekend thanks to @bavarianbakehouse coming to the rescue! And are equally as tasty."Labour MSP Paul Sweeney has also called the loss of Morton's a"hammer blow" to Glasgow. He tweeted:"This is awful news. Coming after the closure of McVitie's in Tollcross, losing the iconic Mortons Rolls of Drumchapel and 250 jobs would be another hammer blow to Glasgow's economy. This is awful news. Coming after the closure of McVitie's in Tollcross, losing the iconic Mortons Rolls of Drumchapel and 250 jobs would be another hammer-blow to Glasgow's economy. The government must step in now to try to find a firm that will buy Mortons out of administration.
