Heavy rain is already causing issues and disruption across the country amid yellow and amber weather warnings that are due to stay in place until Sunday morning.
A yellow warning for rain is in place for 'heavy and persistent rain' with a chance of flooding until 6am on Sunday. An amber warning is also in place for rain across Inverclyde, Renfrewshire, Glasgow and North Lanarkshire.
Anyone looking to travel between Scotland and Preston have been urged not to do so with no services north of Preston running. “We know the impact that the withdrawal of some train services will have on customers but it’s a necessary step to ensure the safety of our staff and customers due to the severe rainfall.
