It was the highlight of Paramount’s presentation in Barcelona, building anticipation for the long-awaited sequel to Ridley Scott’s iconic original film.Despite the uncertainty around Paramount’s future ownership, the studio put up a strong show at CineEurope, wowing its attendees with never-seen-before footage of Gladiator 2, featuring Paul Mescal in the lead alongside Pedro Pascal.
Based on a script penned by David Scarpa, Gladiator 2 also stars Denzel Washington, Connie Nielson, Joseph Quinn, and Djimon Hounsou alongside Mescal and Pascal. Other cast members involved are Fred Hechinger, May Calamawy, Derek Jacobi, Lior Raz, Peter Mensah, Matt Lucas, and Tim McInnerny. Following its challenging production schedule that came to a halt due to the SAG-AFTRA strike in 2023, Gladiator 2 wrapped on January 17, 2024.
