Winter is well on its way in the Mother City and with it comes wet roads and an increased risk of road-related incidents.
In light of the changing seasons, City of Cape Town’s MMC for safety and security, JP Smith, sends the following message to the motoring public: ‘Give that accelerator a break, drive with headlights on at all times, be patient and courteous, and most importantly, steer clear of the bar’.In the past week, the City’s enforcement agencies made 408 arrests and issued 60 889 fines for various transgressions.
Additionally, a total of 75 motorists were arrested this past week, including 58 arrests for drunk driving, eight for reckless and negligent driving and nine others for various other transgressions.
