Arianna Roberson, Clark’s 6-foot-4 junior center, had 14 points and 17 rebounds to lead the Cougars to a 57-38 victory against Brennan in the Class 6A Region IV championship Saturday at Northside Sports Gym.District 28-6A champion Clark clinched the regional title for the second year in a row. The Cougars, the state’s top-ranked 6A team at the end of the regular season, have won 24 in a row.
The Cougars had three others in double figures in scoring, including senior Kaitlin Whitlock who had a team-best 16 points. Ramsey Robledo, an all-state tournament selection last year, added 12 and junior Kamryn Griffin had 11. Clark began the second quarter with a 11-2 run that made the score 26-15 with 5:29 left. Robledo had two of her treys in that span.
The Bears were aiming for their first berth at state since 2014 when they went back-to-back as a 5A program.Wagner qualified in 5A with a 64-48 win against Liberty Hill on Saturday.
