Gina Andews will ride Latenightpass in next Saturday’s Grand National . Amateur jockey Sam Waley-Cohen was successful on Noble Yeats two years agoGina Andrews admits there have been occasions when she has let her mind drift into dreaming about what might happen when she rides Latenightpass in next Saturday’s £1million Randox Grand National .
‘It is whether I line up on the outside, inside or in the middle. But there is no point deciding now, you need to make that decision when you get there.’ Latenightpass is trained by Andrews’s champion point-to-point trainer husband Tom Ellis and was bred and is owned by her mother-in-law Pippa. Ellis has accelerated plans intended for next season and Latenightpass will be his first runner as a fully-fledged professional trainer when he lines up at Aintree.The 32-year-old will fulfil a lifetime ambition when she lines up in the £1m race at Aintree
‘It makes it nicer that it is on a horse who I have ridden for his entire career. We are never going to get another chance like this — a horse who can be ridden by me, trained by my husband and owned by my mother-in-law. So we did everything to get Tom’s training licence.’ Andrews, who shares the rides in her husband’s stable with 6ft 4in brother Jack, boasts an impressive c.v.
