Sterling Shepard won’t read too much into the Giants asking him to play two offensive series and catch a punt in the final preseason game.
a 32-24 loss to the Jets
“I just do whatever I’m told,” Shepard said. “I think [coming back] from injury has a part to do with it. They want to get me a little bit more live action before the season starts and make sure I’m feeling good out there and prepared for what’s coming next. I honestly think it was good for me. I already felt good after last week, but I don’t think it can ever be too much.”
Sterling Shepard, working out at Giants’ practice earlier in the week, caught a punt during the Giants’ 32-24 preseason loss to the Jets.He was forced into plenty of days off during training camp but looked spry when in action — often schooling second-team defensive backs.“They held me back but it was all for the greater good of my health,” Shepard said. “I feel like it helped a lot. The days I was out there, I was able to play to the max.
“No,” he said. “I leave that up to God. I’ve done everything I’ve had to. I leave it all out there every time I step on the field, whether it’s practice or the game. I don’t like to live with regret — and if I give it my all, that’s all I can do.”
