The field outside the royal palace in Kumasi, Ghana , was filled with an enthusiastic crowd celebrating the return of exiled King Prempeh , who was taken away by the British army in 1896. Prempeh was the Asantehene (King) in the late 19th century, and was exiled to Seychelles for resisting British demands. It was not until 1924 that he was allowed to return home, and the current Asantehene , Osei Tutu II, led the celebration.
