After a week away to re\u002Dassess a bad\u002Dlooking loss in what so far has been another disappointing season, the Ottawa Redblacks are looking ahead to a Friday home…
With just one win to go with seven losses in 2022, the Redblacks need to start making up some ground in the CFL East Division. Ottawa has a game in hand on both second-place Hamilton and Montreal — who each have three wins. But it’s looking more and more like there will be a West crossover . So there is extra significance in Friday’s game — and the return match the following Saturday in Edmonton.
The Elks, for what it’s worth are about as beatable as it gets. Much of the time in 2022, they’ve been horrible, surrendering 324 points in nine games. Do the math: That’s 36 points a game. Yeah, this would be a good opportunity for the Redblacks offence to find another gear. “We were bad last week, but throughout the course of the season our offence has been in the middle of the pack — whatever that means,” said LaPolice. “We’ve been able to move the football. When I watch the Edmonton Elks, I see a team that takes the ball away, a team that’s physical, a team that runs to the ball. I know some of their points have come off strange plays, some have come off return touchdowns. They’ve had some issues at times defensively, but they are getting some guys back.
