The generous former President of the Cambuslang Rotary Club has continued his fundraising escapades raising over £4,000 for local charities through a sportsman’s dinner.

As well as a delicious dinner, guests were treated to speakers such as Willie Young, the well-known SFA referee, along with raffles and auctions.Get all the news from your area – as well as features, entertainment, sport and the latest on Lanarkshire’s recovery from the coronavirus pandemic – straight to your fingertips, 24/7.

Robert said: “The Rotary Club had always supported local charities, but when it folded, I thought about what wouldn’t be happening in the future and decided to organise the dinner to keep the good work going. “The Club had previously supported LEAP, and I know a former member still volunteers for this charity, so it was a pleasure to be able to hand them £600 from the funds raised on the night.
