Studies indicate exercise may help improve the the links in the nervous system between separate brain areas, improving brain health.Recipients were asked to report their mood upon receiving the beverage and givers were asked to rate how they thought recipients would feel on a scale from -5 to 5 . Givers consistently underestimated how good recipients of this act of kindness would feel, rating their expected mood upon receiving the gift at an average of 2.7 compared to the actual average of 3.

In a second experiment in the same park, researchers recruited two groups of 100 people. In the control group, 50 people were given a cupcake just for participating and were asked to rate their mood. The other 50 were asked to rate how they thought these people felt after receiving a cupcake.
