The prime minister says he will be back on the campaign trail as soon as he returns from the G7 summit today
Good morning and welcome to i's liveblog. Rishi Sunak has denied that other world leaders are snubbing him at the G7 summit in Italy. The Prime Minister has so far had bilateral meetings with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen at the event in Puglia. However he has not held bilateral talks with the other G7 leaders from the US, Italy, France, Germany, Canada and Japan.
When asked whether he was being snubbed, the PM emphasised that he has held meetings in the margins. He told reporters: “We’ve been here a half a day already and I sat down with a bunch of people I need to in the margins. That’s kind of how these things work.' He also said he was 'energised' and would be straight back on the campaign trail once the summit is over.
