Gayton McKenzie: New Dome in Johannesburg to Transform Creative Industry

South African Minister Gayton McKenzie has hailed the newly launched dome in Johannesburg as a game-changer for the country's creative industry. The 6000-square-metre venue, situated next to the FNB Stadium, is set to host concerts, exhibitions, and conferences, offering a platform for both established and emerging artists. McKenzie expressed his belief that the dome will create a significant impact on the lives of creators, urging those who have given up on their artistic pursuits to reignite their passion.

The official launch, held on Monday, 10 February, was attended by Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture Gayton McKenzie, Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi, and Johannesburg Mayor Sello Enoch Dada Morero. “In Brazil, during the G20, for the whole eight months, it was about the creatives—the artists, singers, and dancers. They were controlling the G20. So, I am saying, if you’ve given up on singing, it’s time to write a new song.”

The venue is equipped with a permanent stage and sound system, making it a “plug-and-play” destination for performances.
