SuperSport United head coach Gavin Hunt still feels Kaizer Chiefs denied him an opportunity to win the CAF Champions League in 2021.in 2020 replacing Ernst Middendorp as the club’s head coach. Hunt, who has won four league titles, was tipped to succeed and bring glory days to Naturena but the former Bidvest Wits coach struggled. With the Chiefs losing the league on the last day of the 2019/20 season, many expected the club to challenge for league honours.
Under Gavin Hunt, Kaizer Chiefs lost ground on Mamelodi Sundowns but made progress in the CAF Champions League. The former Hellenic defender became the first Amakhosi coach to reach the group stages of the competition. The Glamour Boys even managed to reach the quarter-finals where they defeated Simba.With Hunt struggling in the league, the Chiefs management took a questionable decision and sacked the ex-SuperSport United mentor.
