ActionSA in Gauteng is sounding the alarm about the severe traffic congestion plaguing the province, citing malfunctioning traffic lights as a major contributing factor. The party conducted inspections on major roads, revealing alarmingly high levels of traffic jams and urging both provincial and municipal governments to take immediate steps to address the issue.

ActionSA in Gauteng is raising concerns about what it describes as the province's severe traffic congestion. The party conducted oversight inspections in early January on major provincial and municipal roads in Johannesburg , revealing alarming levels of traffic jams caused by malfunctioning traffic lights. ActionSA claims that residents lose over 37 minutes daily stuck in traffic due to congestion, resulting in an estimated R26,000 per person annually.

The inspections, carried out by ActionSA Member of the Provincial Legislature Emma More and Joburg Councillor Sello Mabelebel, found that out of six traffic lights on the route from Randpark Ridge to North Riding Square, only one was operational. The party also pointed out that on certain municipal roads, such as Boundary Road and Aureole Avenue, traffic lights have been inoperable for three years. 'This situation has reached a critical point where concerned citizens are compelled to take charge, directing traffic and ensuring a smooth flow in the absence of provincial and municipal traffic officers,' stated ActionSA's Emma More. She emphasized that the party would hold both provincial and municipal governments responsible for addressing this crisis. 'We will ensure that municipalities and departments of road and transport work together effectively to resolve and address this critical issue,' she pledged
