The Gauteng eGovernment Department is set to launch 30 new WiFi hotspots across the province, providing free internet access at schools, libraries, hospitals, clinics, and community centers. The rollout begins at Daveyton Main Clinic and Lesiba Secondary School on Thursday, expanding the Provincial Network WiFi project.
Gauteng residents will soon be able to access free internet at 30 new WiFi hotspots the provincial government is rolling out this week. Gauteng ’s eGovernment Department will launch the new hotspots on Thursday, starting at Daveyton Main Clinic and Lesiba Secondary School in the East Rand., which oversees all the digital infrastructure needs of the province’s public institutions, has announced the expansion of its Provincial Network WiFi project.
The launch of the latest slate of sites will be on Thursday this week, at Daveyton, Ekurhuleni where two different sites will join the network at Daveyton Main Clinic and Lesiba Secondary School. “Our task as the department of egovernment is quite critical. We really need to put stringent measures to ensure that our data in the province is secured,” said eGovernment MEC Bonginkosi Dlamini in November.
