Gauteng's healthcare facilities get an upgrade with a new training centre on the West Rand.
Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi said it was about time that facilities were modernised, even though he has been premier of the province since 2022.
Located at the Sterkfontein Psychiatric Hospital just outside of Krugersdorp, the training facility will serve as a hub for training nurses, clinicians and support staff. The hope is that the facility will enhance service delivery and see that health facilities are managed more effectively so as to make healthcare services more accessible, efficient and high quality.
“It is about time we modernise our health institutions; this training centre needs to be fully utilised to produce well trained health professionals that will compete in the highest level. Workers trained in here need to provide quality healthcare from the knowledge received to make the community prefer public health services,” Lesufi said.
