Free WiFi has been brought to the Matla Combined School in Kromdraai, thanks to the Gauteng Provincial Government.
The local mayor says that the community has been struggling with connectivity due to the area been rural and on the outskirts.
According to Mayor of Mogale City, which oversees the area, Danny Thupane, the community of Kromdraai has been struggling with connectivity for years due to its remoteness, sitting on the outskirts of the West Rand despite its proximity to South Africa’s economic heart. The community around the Matla Combined School will be able to access the WiFi free of charge, and most importantly it will serve the learners and educators of the school, creating access to the internet – often discussed as a major proponent for economic inclusivity.
